Sinamay is a fine straw derived from the banana plant, it is available in a wide variety of colours. Once stiffened, it can be blocked and moulded into a variety of shapes.

Buckram is a sized gauze. It can be steamed, stretched and shaped, then covered with fabric of choice.

Wool/fur felts are used extensively in millinery and can be moulded and shaped with relative ease.

Feathers can be stripped, curled, dyed and acid burnt to create an effect.
